Your Mail
What is the difference between Recorded (Signed for) and Special Delivery?
Recorded Signed for is intended for anyone needing to prove that an item has been sent and delivered when insurance for the content is not necessary.
Recorded mail travels through the postal network together with ordinary first and second class mail and as such delivery is not guaranteed.
With this postal service, there is an additional charge as you are paying for the delivery to be recorded. This is done by obtaining a signature from the delivery address, though not necessarily that of the addressee in person.
Special Delivery service offers more secure handling than ordinary first or second class mail and greater compensation in the event of loss or damage. It is also a guaranteed delivery by 1.00 p.m next working day, in most areas in the UK, or your postage is refunded. The Special Delivery service can also be used in conjunction with Consequential Loss insurance, which must be requested at the time of purchase.
