Use the following template to write a letter informing the trader of your wish to cancel the contract, after receiving an unsolicited visit to your home.
Under the Consumer Protection (Cancellation of Contracts Concluded away from Business Premises) Regulations 1987, if you buy goods or services costing more than £35 as a result of an unsolicited visit to your home, or place of work, the trader is required, by law to provide you with a written copy explaining your rights to cancel the contract within the next 7 days, beginning the day after the contract was agreed. Failure to do so may be a criminal offence and may make the agreement unenforceable. An unsolicited visit is one which you did not request, and includes a visit following a cold call over the telephone, or a visit asking to send someone round at a later date.
